The Institute of Biotechnology is equipped with a state-of-the-art Tissue Culture Laboratory, dedicated to plant and microbial culture studies, genetic engineering, and biotechnological advancements. The facility includes a specialized incubation room to ensure optimal growth conditions for culture development.

  • Laboratory Operations

    Our tissue culture laboratory is designed with three key operational areas:

    1. General Laboratory/Media Preparation Area: Equipped for media preparation, washing, sterilization, and storage.
    2. Aseptic Manipulation Area: Designed for the aseptic transfer of plant material.
    3. Culture Maintenance Area (Incubation Room): A controlled environment for culture incubation, maintaining optimal conditions for plantlet growth
  • Incubation Room Features

    The incubation room is a crucial component of our tissue culture laboratory, providing precisely controlled conditions to optimize plantlet development. Key features include:

    • Environmental Controls: Precise regulation of temperature, light intensity and quality, relative humidity, and photoperiod.
    • Shelving: Optimized shelving to allow good illumination and access to cultures.
    • Hygiene Maintenance: The room is isolated from the external environment to minimize contamination, with sealed windows and restricted access.
  • Key Equipment

    Our laboratory is equipped with a comprehensive array of equipment to support all aspects of tissue culture:

    • Sterilization Equipment: Autoclaves for sterilizing media, glassware, and instruments.
    • Water Purification System: Ensuring access to high-quality purified water.
    • Microscopes: Inverted microscopes and stereo zoom microscopes for culture observation.
    • Environmental Control: Orbital incubator shaker for cultures requiring agitation, and equipment for maintaining controlled temperature and humidity.
    • Media Preparation: Magnetic stirrer, analytical and top-loading balances, and pH meter for accurate media preparation.
