The Directorate of Research serves as the backbone of SKUAST-Jammu, focusing on the generation and dissemination of innovative, location-specific technologies to address regional agricultural challenges. It ensures the planning, execution, and monitoring of research programmes to enhance productivity, sustainability, and resource management in agriculture and allied sectors.
Mandate

To plan, execute, and manage research programmes of the University, focusing on basic, strategic, and applied research.

To undertake location-specific research in all the Research Stations across Jammu division and monitor their activities for effective implementation and outcomes.

To coordinate the implementation of research projects aimed at generating innovative technologies based on feedback from line departments.

To frame policies, regulations, and guidelines related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

To facilitate the registration and technical support for Geographical Indication (G.I.) tagging of crops and products unique to the region.

To formulate, implement, and monitor the seed production plan of the University through the Mega Seed Project.

To ensure the physical and financial monitoring of ongoing research projects and evaluate completed projects through internal and external expert reviews.

Strengthening the Mega Seed Project for the supply of quality seed to the development departments and farmers.

Maintaining Technology Park at the University campus for showcasing ready-to-use technologies developed for capacity building of field staff, line departments, and farmers.
