Mandate:
The centre is carrying work on two different themes.
1) Cropping System Research under farming system mode
2) Integrated Farming System
The objectives for on-station and on-farm research are as follows:
ο To characterize existing farming systems to know the productivity, viability and constraints.
ο To develop and validate region-specific Integrated Farming System Models for enhanced system productivity, profitability and sustainability.
ο To assess relative efficiencies of the IFS model in terms of economics, resource use and energy.
ο To optimize individual components of IFS in regional perspective
ο Capacity building of stakeholders in Integrated Farming Systems through appropriate trainings
Extension :
OFR 1: On farm crop response to plant nutrients in predominant cropping system and their impact on crop-livestock-human chain.
OFR 2: Diversification of existing farming systems under marginal household conditions.
OFR 3: On farm evaluation of farming system modules for improving profitability and livelihood of small and marginal farmers.
