 Teaching for developing human resources, undertaking research in the field of Agricultural Meteorology

Research :

 To study the agricultural climate in relation to crop planning and assessment of crop production potentials in different agroclimatic regions.  To establish crop-weather relationships for the major rainfed and irrigated crops in different agroclimatic regions.  To evaluate the different techniques of modification of crop microclimate for improving the water use efficiency and productivity of crops.  To study the influence of weather on the incidence and spread of pests and diseases of field crops.

Extension :

 Formulation and dissemination of real time out reach of weather based agri-advisory to the farmers with ultimate aim to increase agricultural production with efficient use of climatic resources through modification of crop/orchard micro-climatic conditions.  To prepare weather based agri-advisory bulletins and real time dissemination to the farmers of the different districts of Jammu region.  Conducting of Farmer Awareness Programme on climate change and its impact On Agriculture.  Organization of Field visit, Farmer training Programme, Stake holder meetings and demonstration of meteorological equipments to students, farmers and line department.
