Teaching :

The Resident Instruction Programme in Farm Machinery and Power comprises of undergraduate degree programme for the students of Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.  The Post graduate programmers i.e. M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes in the field of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering are the flagship programmes of the Division.  It also offers basic courses for other UG and PG degree programmes of   SKUAST-Jammu namely Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry and School of Biotechnology.  The Division has granted 10 M.Tech. (01 pursuing presently) and 03 Ph.D. degrees (05 pursuing presently) scholars.

Research :

Research on development of technologies / Precision Equipment in the area of Farm Machinery and Power and Precision farming. Development of Farm Machinery for Hilly Areas  To conduct research and development on farm implements and machinery, prototype production, feasibility testing and promotion of manufacturing through industrial extension

Extension :

Educating farmers on the use and maintenance of implements  Training the rural youth on the fabrication and maintenance of farm equipments  Assist local manufacturers in providing technical knowhow.

The flagship areas:

• To generate quality Human Resource  Pursue excellence in teaching for the UG, PG and Ph D programmes.
• Identification of mechanization gaps for future research  Development and introduction of hill & mountain specific farm power and machinery technologies to achieve sustainable enhanced productivity and profitability
• Testing of farm machinery under the aegis of MOA&FW, GOI
• Conducting prototype manufacturing and feasibility testing
