Kutchi
1. The Kutchi goat (also known as Kathiawari ) is an important breed of domestic goat from Gujarat state of India. It is a dual purpose breed and raised for both meat and milk production.
2. The breed is native to the Kutch district of Gujarat. And the Kutchi goat breed derives it’s name after the ‘Kutch‘ district.
3. The breed is valued for it’s meat and milk production capabilities in it’s native areas. The Kutchi goat’s flock size ranges from small to large, having 5-300 goats in each flock.
4. Most of the flocks of Kutchi goats are stationary. But they migrate for a limited period to the adjoining areas. They usually migrate to the adjoining areas during the period of scarcity.

6. Body: Medium to large, compact sized.
7. Body Coat: Predominantly black, but a few white, brown and spotted animals are also found. Coat is shaggy and dull in appearance with medium to long coarse hairs.
8. Face: Nose is slightly Roman.
9. Ears: Medium in size, flappy and drooping with typical white markings.
10. Horns: Both the sexes have horns; males have long and strong horn while the females have flat and weak horns.
11. Legs: Long.
12. Udder: Reasonably well developed; teats are conical.
13. Average kidding age: 548-781 days.
14. Litter size: Singles: 84.1 ± 4.2%; twins: 15.2 ± 4.2%; triplets: 0.7 ± 0.4%.
