Jakhrana
1. Jakhrana goat is a dual-purpose breed raised for meat and milk. Though it is a dual-purpose breed, most of the time it is considered as dairy bread because of good milking skill.
2. This breed has been said to be originated in India. The home tract of this goat is Jakhrana village in Alwar district of Rajasthan state in India.
3. Jakhrana goats are similar to Beetal goat breeds, the major difference being that Jakhrana goats are longer. Apart from meat and milk production, the skin of these goat breed is useful in tanning industry.
4. Jakhrana is a large size goat with compact body.
5. The hair on coat is short and lustrous.
6. Goat face is straight with raised forehead. Both male goats and female goats will have horns.
7. This breed ears are medium size about 16to 18 cm in length, leafy and dropping.
8. This goat breed udder is large with large conical teats.
9. Breeding Efficiency in Jakhrana goats is about 85%. Kidding Efficiency in Jakhrana goats is about 80%. Daily milk production.
10. They are large animals. the muzzle is short and lustrous.
11. The face line is straight, with a narrow and slightly bulging forehead. The breed looks similar to the Beetal, the major difference being that the Jakhrana is taller.
12. The Jakharana goats have leafy and dropping ears. And their ears are medium in length and the udder is large, with conical teats. Does are reared for milk. A majority of the bucks are sold for meat, with a small number retained for breeding.
13. Jakhrana goats graze on natural pastures but can also be managed on stall feeding.
14. These goats show good prolificacy and the kidding percentage is 90. Kidding takes place twice a year (June – July and October - November), with a twinning percentage of 80 – 90%.

6. This Jakhrana goat breed is prolific and gives 1 kid at a time and twinning is common in 40 % of goat population. Sometimes you may expect triplets as well. For best growth milk production of Jakhrana goats.
7. Alfalfa hay, Subabul, Lucerne, CO-3, CO-4, corn silage, pellets, legumes and various types of green grasses can be used for daily fodder requirement.
