Sangamneri
1. Sangamneri breed belongs to the home tract of Ahmednagar district in Maharshtra. This goat is reared mostly for commercial meat and milk production.
2. Sangamneri breed is a medium size animal with long legs.
3. This breed goat have short hair and coarse with straight face.
4. These goats have short and thin tails which are kept upward.
5. Their ears are medium size and drooping.
6. Their udder is small, round with conical teats.
7. The female Sangamneri goats will be ready for kidding at the age 400 to 420 days.
8. The kidding interval is around 320 to 340 days.
9. Single are common and can expect 30 to 30 % of twins. Sometimes triplets are possible (5%).
10. The litter size is mainly single however 15 – 20% goats show twinning whereas triplets are rare.
11. Although this breed is reared mainly for meat, some animals show a good milch potential.
12. Dressing percentage is about 41% at 6 months, 45% at 9 months and 46% at 12 months of age.
