BackVarious scheme of assistance of Animal husbandry department under Sheep Development Branch 1. Subsidy Scheme for Establishment of Goat Unit (10+1) for schedule cast people (10 Goats and 1 male goat) The scheme aims at supplementary income by sale of milk of goats and by rearing and selling goats to earn income. In this scheme, the beneficiary is given subsidy - 50% of unit cost or maximum Rs. 45000/-. Purpose To uplift Economically poor livestock breeders. Who can apply for this scheme? Adult beneficiaries of scheduled caste people can apply for this scheme. In which form the subsidy is given? Subsidy for purchase of (10+1) Goat unit. Project cost of unit Rs. 90,000/- Percentage of subsidy 50% of unit cost. Maximum subsidy in rupees Rs. 45,000/- From where you can get application form? To get benefit of this scheme the beneficiary has to apply online on ikhedut portal, http://ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in. And has to take printout of application form, sign/thumb impression on it and with all submit concerned documents within 7 days to nearby veterinary dispensary. Terms and conditions of the scheme • This scheme can be applicable only for the adult beneficiaries of the scheduled caste people • The benefit has provided only one person per family. • The beneficiary has to purchase goat unit within 90 days of pre- approval of the online application. If beneficiary fails to establish the goat unit within time limit or proves disable, then approval order given to beneficiary will be cancelled and the approval order will be given to the beneficiary who is next in the waiting list. • The Beneficiary has to give his photograph with goat unit. • Under the scheme each beneficiary should purchase 10 female goats and 1 male goat. 1 to 2 years old does (female goat) and 2 to 3 years old buck should be bought. • Under this scheme the beneficiary has to contribute 50% of unit cost for food, water, fodder, residence and concentrates expenses. • In general circumstances this unit should be run for 3 years. • Beneficiary has to note the record of milk production and has to give register and information during the visit of department technical officer. 2. Goat Development Development of goat sector, which remained neglected due to more stress being laid on sheep development, has now been taken up so as to narrow down the gap between demand and supply of meat. The Department has accordingly introduced programmes for development of goat sector. • Introduction of Beetal breed: Beetal/ Alpine breeds of goats shall be introduced after validation for upgradation in Kandi belt and Shivalik hill ranges of Jammu division. Dairy Goat Farm Rajbagh is being maintained on pure Beetal goats breeding. • Selective breeding of Kagani goats: Under the programme best Kagani bucks are being purchased from progressive goat breeders of Rajouri, Udhampur, Reasi, Jammu and Samba districts and provided to the breeders having Kagani goats so as to maintain the breed on pure lines and to check the inbreeding. SCHEMES Schemes being implemented by Sheep Husbandry Department, Jammu: Under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS): 1. National Livestock Health And Disease Control Programme (NLH&DCP): a. Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD): Vaccination against economically important diseases viz. FMD, Sheep Pox, Clostridial infections is taken up under the scheme. Apart from this, strengthening of Disease Investigation Laboratory, Surveillance and monitoring of diseases and Awareness programmes are also taken up under the scheme. b. Peste des Petits Ruminants Control Programme (PPR-CP): Vaccination against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) is taken up under this scheme which is an important disease of sheep and goats. c. Establishment and Strengthening of Veterinary Hospitals & Dispensaries (ESVHD). Establishment of new hospitals and dispensaries of the Department is taken up under the scheme for strengthening the infrastructure for providing proper and timely health care to the sheep and goat population. 2. Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY): a. Under RKVY, establishment of 25 Ewes/Does units on participatory mode under RKVY wherein 25 ewes/ does are provided to the beneficiary and 5 ewes/ does are retrieved 3rd year onwards for 5 consecutive years. b. Establishment of 10 Ewes/Does units on participatory mode under RKVY wherein 10 ewes/ does are provided to the beneficiary and 2 ewes/ does are retrieved 3rd year onwards f or 5 consecutive years. 3. ATMA scheme under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET) Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE) different extension activities like Kisan Goshties, organizing demonstration camps and exposure visit of Farmers/breeders are conducted in every district. 4. Under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) Hospitals, dispensaries and other departmental buildings are constructed under the scheme with financial assistance from NABARD as loan with funding pattern of 95:5 (NABARD Loan: State Share) 5. Under State Sector Schemes: a. Mini Sheep Farm (50 Ewes unit) are established in different Districts of Jammu Division, where backend subsidy of Rs. 0.60 lac shall be provided by the Department to each beneficiary with total unit cost of Rs. 2.378 lacs. b. Genetic improvement / construction of existing Labs. c. Strengthening of Govt. Farms by way of Land Development. d. Improvement of Goat in Pvt. Sector for Mutton & Milch. e.
