Monitoring workshop of Time Learn Program-DST


Jammu 07th Dec. 2017: Sh. N.N. Vohra, Governor, J&K & Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu today inaugurated Annual Group Monitoring workshop of Time Learn Program (SEED) DST GOI. The inaugural function was attended by Padam Shri, Dr. Anil P. Joshi, Prof. P. K. Sharma Vice Chancellor, SKUAST –J, Dr. Tej Partap Vice Chancellor, APG Shimla University, Dr. Sunil Agarwal, (DST), Dr. J. P. Sharma, Director Research, Dr. R. K. Srivastav, organizing secretary, officers of the university & PI’S from the adjoining states. Governor N.N. Vohra, in his address emphasizes to commercialize the new innovation developed under the aegis of Time Learning Programme (SEED) for the generation of income in the rural area. He stressed to the scientific community that the challenges of global warming, climate change and soil erosion are posing serious threat to the planet. He said that J&K being a hilly state is facing grave challenge of global warming and climate change hence the role of scientists become very important in generating various climate smart agricultural modules. Governor advocated to generate climate resilient practices for sustainable hill ecosystem. He emphasized to have convergence and cohesion between different stake holders viz. universities, departments and funding agency like DST & DBT so that the technological benefits can reach to the farming community which are the real stake holders. Prof. P. K. Sharma Vice Chancellor, SKUAST –J, thanked Governor Sh.Vohra for his constant encouragement and support to the university. Prof. Sharma highlighted various promising technologies developed by the university for the welfare of farming community. Dr.Tej Partap Vice Chancellor, APG Shimla University, highlighted the importance of SEED- DST & urged the scientists to take the benefits of this programme. Dr. Sunil Agarwal from DST presented the salient achievement of the Time Learn Programme. Dr. J. P. Sharma Director Research SKUAST-J presented formal vote of thanks
