Environment awareness programme held at SKUAST-J for NSS volunteers

To make the students aware about the changing climate and conservation of biodiversity a tree talk was organized for the NSS volunteers today on 5th of March 2018 at herbal garden division of Agroforestry of SKUAST-J, main campus Chatha. Sh OP Sharma IFS, Director Environment, Ecology and remote Sensing J&K Government was the Chief Guest on the occasion, he delivered his 600th talk of his series of talk on trees. He spoke on the importance of environment conservation and traditional plants of Jammu region which have been used for food, feed and medicinal purposes from time immemorial and emphasized for the conservation of such trees and the knowledge about the use of trees. On the occasion 200 NSS volunteers participated and pledged for the conservation of environment and water bodies of the region. Dr Subhash C Kashyap Assistant Director Education and NSS Officer welcome the guest and Dr Sandeep Sehgal Associate Prof. Agroforestry, presented vote of thanks for valuable lecture. The programme was supervised by Dr Sushil Gupta Prof Agroforestry and NSS coordinator SKUAST-J.
