The idea for the formulation of association was conceptualised by Late Dr. R.S. Gupta in 1989. The First General Body Meeting was held in 1989 under the chairmanship of Dr. P.N. Kerni. The association was registered in 1991-92 (REGD. No. 1720-S) and the present Constitution was also adopted in the same year and later amended/approved by the General Body Meeting on 1st September, 2014. The major objective of the association is to render efficient service to the University by improving quality of education, research and extension in response to the challenge of the ever changing socio-economic situation. The other main aim of the association is to watch the professional interests, secure satisfactory conditions of work and service of its members along with redressal of the grievances of the members under provisions of Indian Constitution and the Constitution of J&K State. The key role of the association is to suggest the University authorities and strive for various measures for the improvement of professional as well as economic status of teachers. The association will also co-operate with the associations of other agricultural / non agricultural Universities and agricultural associations of different departments having similar objectives.
