Programme Sructure

The MBA (Agri-Business Management) is a 2 year full time degree programme spread for four semesters. During the first year the programme undertakes the teaching on core courses Agribusiness Environment, Management & Organizational Behaviour, Managerial Economics, Accounting, Production & Operation Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management Communication of Management and Business, Research Methodologies in Business Management, Business Laws and Ethics, Financial Management, International Trade and Management Information System besides summer internship/industrial attachment are planned for improvement of the managerial capacity through practical approach having exposure to application of knowledge with the output of preparing the report. During the second year, the core courses as Agri Supply Chain Management, Project Management and Entrepreneurship Development and Strategic Management coupled with optional and elective package of courses offered for the specialization in subject area of interest The annual intake capacity of the programme is 35 out of which: 02 seats are reserved for nomination as supernumerary seats of admission on the basis of nomination from ICAR/Government of J&K/any other organization. 03 seats are reserved for the wards of the serving employees of SKUAST-Jammu.


Any Graduate from the recognized University with 60% marks having degree as specified in Diversity Factor Table.

Admission Procedure

A multistage selection procedure will be followed for admission as described below:

  • All applicants fulfilling eligibility criteria will have to submit the CAT/CMAT/MATscore card before the last date as and when admission notification will be issued by the university.
  • Merit list will be generated for calling candidates for group discussion, personal interview etc. by adding the diversity factor.
  • Diversity factor weightage will be assigned to various academic disciplines as per the list given in the DFT.
  • Candidates shall be called for group discussion, personal interview and other testing parameters indicated in below mentioned table for different categories. The final merit list will be prepared based on the following selection parameters and respective weightage as given below:

    Graduates having degree in Agri. and allied sciences/Biotechnology/ Vet. Sciences / Animal Husbandry/Dairy Sciences / Technology, Fisheries/ Forestry/ Sericulture/ Food Technology Horticulture Rural Studies/Rural Sociology/ Rural Cooperative/Rural Banking.


    Graduates in the fields including Economics, Commerce, Management, Public Administration, Accountancy, Auditing, Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Economic Development and Planning, Public Administration, Public finance, Secretarial practices etc., Chartered Accountancy, Cost and Works Accountancy, Company Secretary ship, Law, Medicine/ Dentistry, Pharmacology/Pharmacy, Management (BBA) Accountancy, Pure Sciences and Engineering like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electronics & Computer Sciences, Statistics and any other discipline.


    Graduate  in  various fields including  Archaeology, Education, Fine  Arts, Geography, History, Journalism, Languages, Library  Sciences, Literature, Philosophy, Political  Science, Psychology, Social Work/Welfare, Sociology etc., Education (including Physical Education and sports.

    The CAT/CMAT/MAT score weightage will be computed as follows:


    CS/CMS/MS = Candidates' CAT/CMAT/ MAT Score/Highest Score x 50

  • Personal interview, Group discussion, Micro presentation may include subject to test candidates' aptitude for Agriculture and Management. Candidates’ record in extracurricular activities and any additional qualifications or accomplishments may also be considered during the interview process.
  • About 10 minutes time will be given to the candidate to prepare for group discussion and extempore/ Micro presentation.
  • During group discussion, every candidate in a group will be given at least 2 minutes time during which nobody else will intercept.
